Tranquillity Cracks

Tranquillity Cracks (5 hours, round trip)

Oh, what a gem of a hike if you know how to navigate to and through the cracks to get to the tear-inducing viewpoints! Especially the super secret ‘Africa Rock’ Instagram worthy photo is a must. This is not a hard hike but a long one, encompassing the entire pipe track. The way down is either Woody Ravine or Kasteelpoor!

Quirky facts

The Tranquillity Cracks - a  series of interlinking narrow slits and fractures in the rocks - are home to some indigenous Yellow Wood trees and as a result this hidden rock formation, an oasis of tranquillity, is also known as Yellow Wood Cracks.

Ancient Mountain

The rocks on the mountain are over 600,000,000 years old making Table Mountain one of the oldest mountains in the world, older than the Andes, the Alps, the Rocky Mountains and the Himalayas.

More than 70% of all the plants found on the mountain are endemic, meaning they are not found anywhere else.
